Background

Digital & Technology has been through a significant period of change. Leadership has evolved, legacy arrangements have been refreshed, contractor dependencies have reduced, and the strategy is endorsed and communicated.

The structures are now in place. What has not caught up is how we work inside them.

What we are doing

A program run with Opposite. It starts with interviews and a short survey, moves through two leadership workshops, and builds to an all-in session for the whole Digital & Technology team in November.

The leadership team shapes the all-in session, so it reflects our priorities rather than a standard format.

Why we are doing it

  • Too much still comes back to leaders. We want teams solving more problems themselves.
  • The values need to mean something day to day. Collaboration, Respect, Service Excellence, Integrity and Innovation are agreed, but not yet consistent behaviours.
  • Change will keep coming. Rather than wait for things to settle, we want the team to work well while they keep moving.
  • Expectations vary across the leadership group. We want a consistent line on what good looks like.

Dates

All three sessions are confirmed and held at Murrumbeena Park.

What we will have at the end

  • A shared view of where the function is heading, and consistent expectations across the leadership team.
  • The five values written as behaviours we can actually observe and coach.
  • Commitments made by teams and individuals, rather than handed down.
  • An agreed way of communicating through change.
